Seoul, Korea

Dear Diary, sorry for the mess up agenda. I am guilty for not recording for several months. Let me recap hows the porkie's life been last month.

In November (16 nov to be exact), i flew to Seoul, Korea for holidays. Korea has been one of the destination in my head. I wanted to booked the Air Asia X package to Korea when they first launched but it was sold out quite fast, a little disappointed . Then later, I got lucky, my company announced a company trip to Korea :D so it was mostly subsidize by the company.

It was autumn when i was there; very cold & chilly. Day time average @ 4'c night time average @ 0-1'C.

Upon reaching Incheon Airport, tour bus was already waiting for us. First stop was the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). The area is tightly watched by the army; they will check individual passport.

The DMZ area is approximately 4km, the border between south & north korea. The tour guide brought us to the observation area. Just a few binoculars for tourist to view north korea. Again army walking around to make sure the photographer don't step out of the yellow box. basically, you can't use your camera outside the yellow box area. I heard from the tour guide, the purpose of this was to protect & prevent spy

They also showed us documentary...several underground tunnels were built half way & discovered by the Seoul Korean. The third tunnel was discovered somewhere 19XX dont remember but it is now open for tourist to visit. Its a long bumpy walk down the tunnel, and whats in there? some bob wires! hehe the weather was at 4'C but after completing the tunnel walk? it felt as tho the weather increased drastically to 25'C! very good exercise indeed :P

Also visited the freedom bridge; where i bridged like a free man :S

Dorasan station was the railway that once connect both countries, north & south korea

Also notice most of Korea tourist highlight includes places that been some famous movie/drama set. This particular1 was the setting from "de chong gum" drama place

the set was quite huge but of course on TV it looks even larger than live.

Another film set was @ nami island where winter sonata was filmed.
This is my favourite place to visit in Korea after Jeju Island

Around the island, they had mapped out the scene from the drama.
& this spot here is where they filmed the first kiss scene :)
sweettt...

Halloween

Last year Halloween i had quite a bit of fun, where i went as a witch
i had a little cobweb at the corner of my eye, i drew it myself. :)
quite artistic eh? :P

Whereas for 2010... nothing much really!
it was unbelievably plain.
Instead of having any costume party, i was in 1u for the last day of Oktoberfest
and...i got a pair of LED bunny ears.

i guess, it was just for the shake of it.

anyway Happy Halloween to all :)

Friends WANTED!

one of those nonsensical post...but i think i really need to recruit some new friends!

friends=
someone sincere
someone nice
someone easy going
someone who stand by their friends

ooh gosh, this is so pathetic!

Hair Suicide

I don't think hair suicide is an existing term.
...hmm let's just say i created the term based on personal experience :P

i am a person who can't leave my hair alone!
every few months, i will do something to my hair...
normally i just get a trim that no one would notice the different. :S
and very often i get bored of my hairstyle.

i.e Last year i chopped off my long hair to a bob and maintain mid length.
Now that i missed my long hair so i decided to keep it long again.
However, waiting for it to grow to the length is quite suffering.
i can't trim much and trimming won't give me a different look/style.
Several times, i wanted to do hair extension for the sake of getting my long hair back.
But i hold myself back because i didn't want to waste too much $$$

In early June, the hair thing (i want different hairstyle, but at the same time i still want to keep it long) strike my head again. So desperate for a change.

I went to cut a dolly bangs.
By July, i went back to my usual hairstyle because i was lazy to maintain the bangs.
I had it trimmed once myself and that was it.

In the last week of July, i couldn't stand my hair colour any more. The colour was faded and my hair had grown an inch long! So i bought a pack of BLACK colour hair dye and dye it myself.

Then come August, i saw some promotion at Monsoon-id
and i did Korean spa hair perm!

I quite like the result, very little curls but it looks more natural.
Ooh did i tell you what happen to my black color dye?
I think its the chemical they used to perm my hair. It kind of washout most of the black hair dye.
Leaving a quite bad patchy looking hair color
2 weeks later i bought Liese, Chiffon Beige.
The newly release bubble hair dye.

it was quite cool and i thought i was easier as compared to normal hair dye

massaging to make sure all the colour is even.
but my hair was tangled quite bad maybe because i just perm my hair.
In another words, not advisable for curly hair!

and please make sure read the instruction before use &
watch the how-to video! XD

the colour only came out after a few wash.
but i think the hair dye damaged my curls...:S
the curls almost gone now...sighh its only been a month

color-->perm-->color
all done in 1 1/2 month= hair suicide

my hair is so dry & damaged now but yet i am still thinking to try out something new when i go Korea for holiday in November :D That is if i have time to visit the hair salon.

My First Canvas Painting

I've always love oil painting on canvas and always wanted to try painting one myself.
But i'm not good with painting nor serious about it.

So one day, i decided to fill my weekends with something different.
i went to the shop nearby my place to get some tools...
i got a 12inch X12inch canvas
and a box of oil pastel crayon because i realise brushes are not cheap.

Since i haven't painted anything since high school art class project, i didn't trust myself with freehand painting. Hence, i tried sketching with pencil first.
I didn't like what i've sketched and when i trying to remove the pencil marks....i simply can't.
I just smudge the area i erased on (told u its my first canvas painting experience) :S so i googled on how to erase pencil mark from canvas. Generally, i learned two ways.
i. to paint over it
ii. use gum erase

I can't find the gum erase so i decided to paint over it. Because i am using oil pastel crayon, it just smudge the pencil marks further.

i ended up buying oil pastel color and some cheap brushes to paint over it,
i was trying to be a smarty0pants; trying to save some $$$ ended up paying more for the lesson :S

at the end, i painted a pig freehand XD
it was quite a fun and relaxing to do different stuff once in a while.

here's another picture of my pig painting,
hope u like it :)

Bangkok City went Haywire!

Besides having too many wires and the two bombing incident, it was okay.
its more of me going haywire with all the shopping :P
Day1-2 was all about shopping and massage
we went to the platinum shopping, siam paragon, chatuchak market and mbk.

Clothes are relatively cheap there but i find it quite similar to times square in KL-just that its about RM5-10 cheaper. What i didn't like was- i don't get to try before i buy. So every night, we kinda run a mini fashion show back in our hotel- trying out all the new stuff we bought during the day. :S

me and my big pink shopping bag + diva hat i bought day1

here are my shopping goods excluding the dozen of bras & panties that i've bought :P
ps: the picture includes my sis's stuff as well because she insisted to have hers in the picture to create the "Wow" factor.. but i thought the picture didn't quite create that emotion.

hmm...We shop too little?

out of all the things i bought i had two piggy items and i love them :)

#1 piggy indoor socks
Align Centre#2 a springy pig that i now hung down my ceiling

...of course, after hours of walking...these blistered feet need some massage!
i miss the massage there. it can be as cheap as RM20 for an hour of foot massage!
back in KL, for an hour of foot massage cheapest on the top of my mind is RM35/40; doubled the price :(
That was just shopping, we visited some touristy places and tried the local food

like padthai

bird's nest soup from china town but i did not like it.
maybe it was the way the cook it, i did not like the fragrance...just funny!
Align Centre

you can find the whole china town filled with light-boxes for bird's nest and shark fin.
it's cheap over there.
a groupie with the notty lady boss behind-now ex-boss :(

we did a few touristy place on the 3rd day.

1# The grand palace
The buildings were beautiful and made good photographs.

Fyi: there's a dress code to enter the palace
Ladies: anything long to cover the legs, no sleeveless and no leggings
Gents: long pants and no sleeveless as well

Don't worry if u are not in the right dress code, they do have pareo and pants rental at the entrance.

Outside the palace compound, we encounter with local lies. A local approach us like one of those sales guy that anyone would try to avoid. First he told us the palace is close, then he told us we cannot enter because of our dressing. We ignored. but i bet he was just trying either bring us elsewhere and be our little tour guide, charge us a bomb or sell us some clothes.

That was just one, we had another incident before the palace whereby the taxi drivers refuse to take us to China Town; the reason given was the roads in China Town are closed for Buddha celebration which was totally bullocks! Tourist might want to beware of this.

We hired a tour guy for about RM150; he was nice and good with all the history stuff which i am not very into lol :P here are some pictures inside the palace

the hermit doctor- experienced in preparing traditional herbal medicines and he is wearing very little clothes because he lives in the jungle.
The two guarding the door are the bad guys turn good.

Then there's something to represent the King but i don't remember what it means already
only remembered the number of elephant(s) symbolize how much power to the king has.

the mini Angkor Wat
Phra Sri Ratana Chedi within Wat Phra Kaeo
-Shaped like a bell because they believe it will keep the evil spirit away
and it is made of GOLD!
each of the small gold piece cost about RM10...
there's so many!
guang gong is also in the palace

The very powerful monkey aka Sun WuKong from China

Also be amazed with the wall- full of pictures that tell great stories

behind us stand the Emerald Buddha- made from jade.
unfortunately, no camera is allow.

The Emerald Buddha wears costume made of solid gold. There's three costume for three different seasons: Winder, Summer and Rainy Season. Only the King change the costume of the Emerald Buddha.

Once you get out, you are suppose to sprinkle holly water for blessing and that is exactly what i am doing in the picture :)

2# River cruise
we went on a river cruise, rented a boat for four of us.
serious, don't do it! it's a total waste of $$$. i nearly fall asleep...nope not nearly...i fell asleep

the only thing i got to see was the floating market.
but only two-three sellers.

some scenery ...more temple and houses
check out the size of the buddha

3# Wat Poh aka the sleeping buddha

4# Wat Arun

we took a RM0.30 ferry from the back of the palace to Wat Arun

where i tried on their traditional costume.
the local taught me how to pose.
i thought i looked ridiculous
haha
nonetheless, i found myself flashing when climbing the stairs.
Thank god i wasn't wearing anything transparent. heeh :S
It was really steep. my advise is to wear a pants.

At Wat Arun's, recorded some pictures on the body massage points.

Learning so much on the history and culture, we needed to see more about the people so we went for a ladyboy show :P

Chris was in Bangkok as well for a night to get some inspiration. He joined me for the show- Calypso @ Asia Hotel.
I guess he needed inspiration from the "pretty laddies" :P
isn't she gorgeous?
i mean he :S
lots of super hot flaunting bodies

me and the sister

After the show, we have some local beer-Singha back in hotel.
Quite a nice place @heritage hotel

King size bed :D

TV

last thing i need was a transparent bathroom glass window.
As thoughtful as all hotels would be, snacks coffee and tea are available
and "One Touch Happy" for the emergency use.
haha what a brand name!
